Founding stageThe public-benefit foundation is established; the institution described is designed, not yet built. Founding capital builds it.

Minimal data. Full daylight.

This statement covers unitedpeoples.earth and the linked demonstration at demo.unitedpeoples.earth — together, "the site." You can read everything here without creating an account and without telling us who you are; where the site does process personal data, this page says exactly what, why, and for how long.

01Who We Are

The controller.

Stichting UnitedPeoples, a Dutch public-benefit foundation (ANBI)
Burgemeester de Monchyplein 74 · 2585 DD The Hague · The Netherlands
KvK 94057761 · RSIN 866620205
info@unitedpeoples.earth

Stichting UnitedPeoples is the controller for the personal data described in this statement, within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / AVG).

02What We Collect, and Why

Only what each interaction needs.

If you back UnitedPeoples

Payment is taken by Stripe. We never see or hold your card details. From the checkout we receive your email address, the billing name you gave, and your billing country. Your place on the Backers' Roll is published on this site as a number with either your first and last name and your country, or the word Anonymous and your country — you choose which at the welcome screen, where your billing country is only the default and you can correct it. Nothing else is ever published: no amounts, no titles, no email address. That choice is made once, and then it stands — but showing a name rests on your consent, and consent is yours to withdraw. Write to firstbackers@unitedpeoples.earth and the entry becomes Anonymous, keeping its number; withdrawal does not undo the publication that happened before it. Your email address and billing name are also held in a register only UP can see, used to administer your backing and to send you UP FRONT, which comes with the backing rather than with a separate sign-up. The basis for that mailing is our legitimate interest in keeping our own backers informed (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); the way off it is offered when you back and in every edition, and an opt-out is honoured permanently. A number is earned by carrying the backing for a year: cancel or lapse inside that year and the entry is retired — the name and country are erased, the number is kept but shown to nobody, and it is never issued again. A single gift of €60 or more is a year's backing paid at once, and takes a permanent place from the day it arrives. One-off gifts below €60 are received with thanks and create no record in our systems at all — they exist only at Stripe. Legal bases: performance of the arrangement you enter into with us (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) to administer the backing; your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) to publish your name; and our legitimate interest in keeping a permanent and accurate record of who backed this institution before it was built (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Your right to erasure is honoured on request whatever the Roll's own rules say — email info@unitedpeoples.earth.

If you sign up as a supporter

We store the email address you give us and, if you choose to provide it, your country, along with the page you signed up from. We use this for one purpose only: to let you know about UP's launch and progress. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe option in any message we send.

If you join the News list

We store the email address you give us on the News page, along with the page you joined from. We use this for one purpose only: to send you UP FRONT, the newsletter carrying what we publish. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us or using the unsubscribe option in any edition; an unsubscribe is honoured permanently. First Backers receive the newsletter as a stated part of their backing and need not sign up here.

If you request the founding dossier

We store your name, organisation, and email address so we can respond to your request — we aim to reply within 48 hours. A notification containing these details is emailed to the UP team. Legal basis: taking steps at your request prior to entering into a relationship, and our legitimate interest in responding to funders who contact us (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

If you talk to NAVi (text, voice, or live)

Your messages are processed in order to generate NAVi's responses. Voice conversations are processed by our voice provider (ElevenLabs), live avatar sessions by our avatar provider (HeyGen), and text conversations by the AI model behind NAVi. We log that a conversation took place (type, time) and apply per-IP rate limits to prevent abuse, which involves briefly processing your IP address. Please don't share sensitive personal information in conversations with NAVi — it's a demonstration, not a confidential channel. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the demonstration (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

If you explore the UP HUB demonstration

The demonstration at demo.unitedpeoples.earth is a preview of the future UP platform, not the platform itself. It requires no account and stores no profile about you. As on the main site, we apply per-IP rate limits to prevent abuse, which involves briefly processing your IP address, and we keep internal operational logs of demo usage (counts and timestamps, not identities). Anything you type into the demonstration is used only to run it in your session. As on the main site, analytics cookies are set on the demonstration only if you consent via its banner. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the demonstration (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the main site and the demonstration are used. Analytics cookies are only set after you consent via the banner shown on your first visit; if you decline, both sites work identically. Separately, we use Simple Analytics — a Dutch, EU-hosted service — as a visit counter that uses no cookies, stores nothing on your device and records no personal data: only anonymous totals per day and page (for example, ‘the home page was viewed 40 times on 2 August’), together with anonymous counts of a few interactions such as clicks on the demonstration button and openings of NAVi. Because it identifies no one, it runs without consent. Legal basis for the counter: our legitimate interest in knowing whether, and how, our sites are being used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See the cookies section below.

Aggregate reporting

A daily internal summary (counts of dossier requests, new supporters, NAVi usage, and the names and organisations of dossier requesters) is emailed to the UP team so we can follow up on requests. It goes only to UP.

03Who Processes Data on Our Behalf

A short list of service providers.

Base44

Website and demonstration hosting; form and data storage

Google (Analytics)

Aggregate usage statistics — main site and demonstration, and only with your consent

Simple Analytics

Cookieless visit counter — anonymous totals only, no personal data; EU-hosted

ElevenLabs

NAVi voice conversations

HeyGen

NAVi live avatar sessions

Microsoft 365

Our email, where notifications and your messages to info@ arrive

Amazon SES

Outbound email delivery, through Base44's email integration — named here for completeness, though our own agreement is with Base44

Stripe

Payments for the First Backers' programme — checkout, receipts, and the page where you manage or cancel your backing. For fraud prevention and its own legal and regulatory duties, Stripe also acts in its own right rather than on our instructions.

Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, notably in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

We never sell personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.

04How Long We Keep Data

Kept while needed. Then not.

Backers' Roll entries

A number, and the name shown against it, are meant to be permanent — that is what the Roll is. A retired entry keeps only its number; the name and country are erased at the moment of retirement.

First Backers register (only UP can see it)

While you are backing, and afterwards for as long as we need it to keep the Roll accurate. Ask us to erase it and we will. An address that has unsubscribed is kept only as a suppression record, so that we never mail you again.

Supporter signups

Until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent

News list subscriptions

Until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent — unsubscribed addresses are kept only as a suppression record so we never mail them again

Dossier requests

For the duration of our contact with you, and up to 24 months after last contact

NAVi and demo usage logs, rate-limit data

90 days

Analytics

14 months (Google Analytics retention setting)

05Cookies

One cookie. Your choice.

Both the main site and the demonstration use cookies only for analytics (Google Analytics 4). We ask for your consent before any analytics cookies are set, via the banner shown on your first visit — and you can change your choice at any time below or via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Strictly necessary technical storage (for example, remembering your cookie choice itself) does not require consent. Our visit counter sets no cookies at all.

06Your Rights

The GDPR means what it says.

You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights, email info@unitedpeoples.earth — we will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), or with the supervisory authority of your own EU member state.

07Changes

This statement will evolve.

We will update this statement as the site and the institution evolve — in particular at public launch, when the UP platform will introduce substantially richer functionality with its own, more extensive privacy framework. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
